About Sheer Margins
Sheer Margins is currently not active, but if you would like to be a part of a show, please submit below and maybe a show will be curated with enough interest!
Sheer Margins was an open mic and performance series seeking to highlight new voices in poetry, spoken word, and music, curated by poets Christina Rodriguez and Ellie Malka.
Static is cool, but we like to push the margins by setting up in a new place for each show. We traveled to different locations around Chicago to bring life to venues that are dedicated to the arts such as bookstores and other creative nooks.
We have a 10-slot open mic followed by four features, three poets and one musician at every show.
We are an open, safe space for all communities and are especially interested in featuring work by people of color and LGBTQIA community, as well as new and emerging talent (but if you’ve been around a while, we want you too!)

CALL FOR FEATURES
Submit or Contact Us!
We are always seeking artists to feature at future shows. If you are interested in being a feature, please submit:
Poetry/Spoken Word: 3-5 pieces, max length 10 pages or a link to your work/performances
Musicians: 2 songs in MP3 format or link to your music
We are asking for a sample to get a scope of your work. These are not the pieces you have to perform during your set (but if you want to, that’s fine too!). Selections for features will be made with consideration of assembling a show that represents a diversity of poets/musicians, styles, and approaches to performance. Features will be given a 15-minute set.
Use this form for general inquiries too!

Open Mic Time Limit: 5 minutes each - 10 slots
Features Time Limit: 15 minutes each - 4 slots
We currently can't afford to pay performers, but are giving you the opportunity to sell books, music, and promote your creative projects and events. This is a great opportunity to read/perform with other talented people in a new series that wants to share your work around Chicago!
