I have a fondness for computer-generated poetry. You can imagine my excitement when I found an app on my iPhone called "Stickgirl Poetry" Stickgirl is an oracle who wax poetic life's problems in a haiku when you ask a question and shake your phone for an answer. This spin on the Magic 8 Ball concept is not only fun, but can create some lovely haiku, complete with fun or sometimes appropriate backgrounds. With our cosmic energy, Stickgirl and I have created some awesome haiku for Day 10 of NaPoWriMo! Some of them are oddly accurate. Click on each picture to get the full image and the question I asked. If Stickgirl rocks your world, visit her at The World According to Stickgirl.
Heavy hearts hold
burnt out stars deep in their belly, laboring hope in their hips, desiring to birth blinding light from their eyes. As a little girl, I used to wish that I could mother the skies and protect the stems of dying light on the edge of my lips. Now I wander endlessly through the dark with you until you're ready shed some light. We'll wait quietly in the belly of the moon for your heart to crown dusty death throes of dimming supernova remnants, pushing through the edge of your lips to land on my awaiting hands. Flesh and the Devil... worlds turned on her movements. Her instinct, her mastery over the machine was pure witchcraft. Gimme a whiskey, ginger ale on the side, and don't be stingy, baby. Industry standard, my heart will break under her. This time I rise... and fall...alone. I never look ahead. By next spring I shall probably be... quite alone. Time leaves traces on our small faces and bodies. It's not the same anymore, being able to pull it off. I never said, 'I want to be alone'; I only said, 'I want to be let alone' There is a world of difference. In a few days, it will be the anniversary of the sorrow that never leaves me, that will never leave me for the rest of my life. We cannot help our nature, as God has created it. But I have always thought you and I belonged together. |
