Hello my readers,

If you following the writing schedule on the front page of the site, then you know that I am two days behind on starting my Tanka Marathon. I've been rather busy since starting a new job two weeks ago. I'm learning how to manage my time with a full time job. I like it so far.

As in updating and my writing, I'm going to try to update with regular blog posts twice a week on my days off. As for my writing challenges, I will try my best to post them everyday when I come home from work.

Now for Tanka #1.

grab what you want dear.
my tongue awaits for your hot
mouth, your desire
cooling me off to a trem-
ble underneath your body.

Small Stone Blogsplash – we need your help…

6/1/2011

Kaspa & Fiona have taken over my blog for today, because they need our help.
They are both on a mission to help the world connect with the world through writing. They are also getting married on Saturday the 18th of June.

For their fantasy wedding present, they are asking people across the world to write them a ‘small stone’ and post it on their blogs or on Facebook or Twitter.

A small stone is a short piece of observational writing – simply pay attention to something properly and then write it down. Find out more about small stones here.

If you’re willing to help, we’d love you to do things:

1) Re-post this blog on your own blog any time before June the 18th and give your readers a chance to hear about what we’re doing. You can simply copy and paste the text, or you can find the html here.

2) Write us a small stone on our wedding day whilst we’re saying our vows and eating cake, post it on your blog, and send it to us.

You can find out more about our project at our website, Wedding Small Stones, and you can also read our blog at A River of Stones.

We also have a July challenge coming soon, when we’ll be challenging you to notice one thing every day during July and write it down.

Thank you for listening, and we hope we’ll be returning from our honeymoon to an inbox crammed with small stones, including yours.

Kaspa & Fiona

New project, Sex In Your Mouth!

Hello Write Queen Readers!

I am so sorry that I am three days behind with my poems. I've been busy. Exciting new things are happening. For instance, I am starting a food blog with my buddy Elizabeth Ramanand of What The Liz. When we go out, we often discover super yummy food. During the last couple of food adventures, I have been claiming that all of the delicious things going into my mouth has been like having sex in my mouth.

Let's face it, sometimes having food can be better than sex. You experience a crazy euphoria in your mouth and you feel like you have reached your peak. So after saying, "OMG Sex in my mouth" after a few discoveries, I felt like it would a great idea to blog about these awesome discoveries and so did Liz.

So I set up a blog called "Sex In Your Mouth" on WordPress and now we have a blog. Go and check out the first post by clicking the logo below (which reminds me that The Write Queen needs a logo):

It's a brand new day!

Hello everyone!

Here I am at my new location. Still the same domain of course, but a different server.  I finally have simple things like a sidebar and widgets on my blog! I don't know how the change will be received, but I hope that it will be for the better. I still have things active on the old site, including the blog for my older posts (http://christinarodriguez.webs.com/apps/blog)! You can actually access it by making your mouse hover over "Blog" and choosing "The Write Queen June 2008 - February 2011" tab.

I might do a few things with this new server, including open a couple of more blogs. I can actually create more than one. I don't know if this is a necessary feature, but it might come in handy. I'm still updating the site, but I am happy with things so far. My new host is on Weebly. So far, it has quite a few things that trumps Webs, like the ability to actually use my domain name and not just have it forwarded to the site.

I'm excited! I must carry on with the transition so for now, ta-ta! Enjoy your night and your Presidents Day readers!

2011 Writing Schedule

12/12/2010

2010 is on it's way out so whatever plans I had for my writing, well...it's too late now. But I can have hope for 2011...

I got an e-mail from author Fiona Robyn earlier today. I am subscribed to one of her blogs, Planting Words. She made an announcement that in January, she will be holding a month long writing challenge called NaSmaStoMo (National Small Stones Writing Month). This means that everyday for the month of January, you would write a 'small stone'. A small stone is a small, poetic observation. You can read more about small stones on her blog. I even have one published on her online lit zine, a handful of stones.

I started thinking about how often I push myself to write everyday. Since 2009, I have done NaPoWriMo, also known as a 30/30 challenge in April, which is writing a poem everyday in April for National Poetry Month. Last December, I did another 30/30 (or 31/31 since it's December) for the end of the year. Of course I write throughout the year, but there are times where I am uninspired or extremely stressed out to write.

When I was younger, I wrote several times a week. Now I'm lucky if I write a few times a month. I need to push myself and challenge myself more. I used to before I became reliant on school to help me with my writing life. Goodness, I was writing long before I decided this should be a career, I shouldn't be a slave to learning from academia! I taught myself a lot of stuff before college. And I was writing more too.

So I have decided to do more month long writing challenges. I'm not going to do it every month, but there will be more months of challenges (which means more action on this blog). I'm also going to do shorter two week challenges between breaks. I am going to list my schedule right now as a matter of fact!

2011:

January -  NaSmaStoMo at a river a stones via the Write Queen blog
February - break
March - March 7 - 20, Haiku Madness
April - NaPoWriMo via the Write Queen
May - break
June - June 6 - 19, Tanka Marathon
July - Discover Me - 31/31 of Self Discovery Poetry
August - break
September - Spell It Out - 30/30 of Acrostic Poetry
October - break
November -  November 7 - 20, Haibun Runs
December - 31/31 for the end of the year

Whew, just looking at it scares me, but it's exciting at the same time. Now that everyone knows my writing schedule, don't be afraid to push me if you see me slacking. Encouragement is the best medicine for a writer. Makes us feel loved!

Updates, Changes, and Activities

Good Night!

I hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving. The semester is slowing down for me, so I am thinking about what I am going to do with the site (after all, I am paying a yearly subscription for extras). I really want to try to blog in one place (preferably here). I like the features of other blogging platforms, but trying to manage more than one blog is hectic. Plus I would really love to drive more traffic to the site.

If you have noticed, the blog actually has a name! "The Write Queen" is currently the name of my blog for my multimedia journalism class. However, since the class blog is a subscription service, I will not have it for much longer. Plus it's a cute name. I am a writer from Queens after all.

One thing I am hoping to do here (and keep up with) is a 30/30, or in the case of December, a 31/31. A 30/30 is when a poet writes 30 poems in 30 days. I would love to post my poems here. With my last 30/30, I posted the poems on Facebook. I still will only I will do it via import from here. The next post will contain today's poem (before we hit day 2 of course).

I will finish importing all my old blog post from different blogs by the end of the month. The reason I am doing that is because I feel that these are good post. They say you should have a niche when blogging, but since I don't have one that I want to settle on at the moment, I might as well present a mixed bag of material and see what happens.

Well, off to post my first poem of my 31/31 and then to sleep!

Have a pleasant night everyone!

Site Updates and Redesign

Good Night World!

As you can see, I have redesigned the site. All the images used for the background and header are photographs that can be found in the Photo Gallery. Please let me know what you think of the redesign!

Things have been slow since the summer, especially once school started up again. I am in my senior year at Brooklyn College and I am hopeful that I will graduate in the upcoming spring.

I did a lot with my Zazzle site for the majority of the summer. I can't wait to have some time to create some more products. In August, I made Zazzle's Today's Best twice. The first one was for a t-shirt and the second was for a skateboard. I also had a product that recieved a member reward called Make Me Laugh.

I was doing well with the Blogger blog until school started. Then things slowed down again.

I am doing something with a couple of blogs at school, one using Typepad, the other using Wordpress.

Of course I must update the New Works section soon and maybe, I will really start to have a true commitment to this blog here. I like the other blogs I deal with better, but I would rather have everything in one place. Maintaining multiple links can be annoying.

I know I have more news, but I am kind of tired and have school in the morning. So until next time readers, good night!

Multiple Blogging and More Products on Zazzle

7/14/2009

I recently started another blog on Blogger. Which is hilarious considering that I started this website so I can get away from Blogger. But it seems to be a growing trend among young writers and artists so I decided to jump on the bandwagon and do a little blogging here and there. I honestly have been blogging on there more than here or my MySpace page. But then again, Blogger makes it easier to blog from anywhere, especially on the go. And I can have my posts go to Facebook, a site I am on all the time. I know that it is important to have a presence everywhere but sometimes I wish either everyone can get a Webs.com website or that there was this amazing site that combines everything smoothly.

My Blogger site is: http://inventedecstasy.blogspot.com/

And I have been adding more products to my Zazzle page. Go to the page to see all the latest products,http://www.zazzle.com/chris__tina*

I still want to start a business, any tips or ideas, help of any kind? Or interaction of any kind? It can get lonely here on Webs.

Have a good day everyone.
